In February this year, the world lost its beloved “Joe”. My brother in law Joe had been battling a rare form of cancer called EHE. He passed away at the young age of 37.
Not long after in March, I found a lump in my breast which turned out to be stage 3 breast cancer. By May, I was juggling 3 kids and undergoing chemotherapy at Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre.
Whilst undergoing treatment, my husband Ben and I noticed more and more, the tangible things this charity covered. For instance, we didn’t have to pay for parking for appointments or chemotherapy and could park really close to the hospital especially when I felt really tired from treatment.
We wanted to give back and we have our friends, family, and work colleagues joining us on Team Blackbird.
