In October 2021 my late father PULOTU IESE FAIESEA was advised there was nothing medically that can be done to help
him prolong his life further, he was 65 years young and had been battling cancer for many years.
I remember hearing those devastating words from his oncologist after getting the results from his last radiation round, I was advised it was time to help him tick off his bucket list and make him comfortable at home. He was placed into palliative care at home in November 2022 and was cared for til he took his last breath on April 23rd 2022 by our family and the awesome palliative care team.
This team was put together not only to honour our fathers memory, but to raise much needed funds so that ongoing care can still be provided to other families who are still in the fight of their lives.
The 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur is an annual fundraising movement that exists to provide the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the Oncology Ward and the Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit at Campbelltown Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit and associated Outreach service at Camden Hospital with the extra services and equipment they need to assist in the treatment, care and comfort of children and adults dealing with cancer.
