The 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur is an annual  fundraising movement that exists to provide the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the Oncology Ward and the Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit at Campbelltown Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit and associated Outreach service at Camden Hospital with the extra services and equipment they need to assist in the treatment, care and comfort of children and adults dealing with cancer.
All money raised stays in Macarthur – Totally Volunteer Committee – Expenses covered by Local Businesses and Service Clubs.
I first started fundraising for this back in 2000. Only a few years later we lost our 17 year old niece to spinal cancer.  For a number of years I used to lead a small group that walked from Martin Place to Campbelltown Sports Ground. Starting at midnight we would walk through the night to be at the stadium for its opening ceremony. We didn’t go via the toll-ways  so no tolls were paid. We raised more pain for the walkers that we did in raising money.
After numerous years I amended our walk from Camden Palliative Care Unit via Campbelltown Cancer Ward to Campbelltown Stadium.  Averaging around 40 walkers we have manage to raise between $10 to $15k each year. As with last year, this year covid has destroyed our fund raiser. So our vital fund for cancer treatment for victims in the Macarthur has been very limited for the past two years. Cancer keeps popping up in unwanted areas!
As I cannot get my team back together in our usual walk, can I please ask for your assistance. This can be either in sponsoring me, joining my team in a virtual walk or by doing your own virtual walk around your suburb. I am looking at my team raising $2000. My personal target is to walk 3100k’s during October (10k’s a day).  Also to start the ball rolling I will start my sponsorship of myself with $200.00 donation. If you can assist me reaching my teams target, your help is greatly appreciated.
